"...a fantastically informative workshop."
"I loved the step-by-step instruction."

Take this workshop to improve your long and short bios....BRAINSTORMING

BRILLIANT BIOS

All writers need brilliant bios, both short and long, to convince editors and agents that we are ideal to write a particular article or book. Indeed bios are the second most important piece of promotional writing writers undertake after composing descriptions of their work.

First presented at the Surrey International Writers' Conference in 2004.

Learning to write a one-page bio (Photo: Hickey)Using a unique questionnaire, annotated examples, and a lively PowerPoint accompaniment, this workshop mines the data you must include in a confidence-creating bio, exposes the no-nos, illuminates the factors that spark success, identifies bio spin-offs, and starts to build the composition of one pagers and six liners….

Discover how to:

  • decide what to include in your long and short bio

  • compose at least six different types of bios, including bylines

  • tweak your short bios for a variety of purposes

  • use adjectives/adverbs sparingly

  • captivate an editor with your qualifications (or lack of!)

  • decide to use bios to your best advantage

Don’t let your bio let you down!

Sign up now for Brainstorming Brilliant Bios and ensure your query letters and book proposals contain just the right information about you to ramp-up your chances of getting published.
