ESSAY PLANNING AND EDITING
A presentation for Grade 7 to 12 students and their teachers
Immediately applicable in the classroom, this hands-on presentation, provides practical, professional writing tips for grade 7 to 12 students and grade 5-12 teachers that will improve writing essays for assignments and exams by 25%. It can also be customized to address the timed writing component of the Ministry of Education's provincial exams and Foundation Skills Assessment
Teachers and students learn:
* How to brainstorm individually
* How to identify an essay's theme
* How to choose and organize the key items
* How to write creative nonfiction
* How to manage the allotted time
* How to write to a deadline
* Some neat self-editing tricks!
Using a lively PowerPoint presentation, interactive techniques, examples, and experiential exercises, participants learn to write on a given topic under pressure. The professional writing tips simplify the process of producing short and long impromptu writing samples that have a theme, well-chosen key ideas, and clarity. A focus on editing completes the session.
